Welcome to Manchester NH Chapter #1294! We are a group of Harley enthusiasts dedicated to one purpose, Having fun! The sole purpose of our group is to share our experiences of motorcycling together, enjoy each other’s company, and have fun in the process. In order to join our local chapter you must first be a member of National H.O.G. Our local chapter yearly dues are $20.00. We are a non-profit organization.

Please call our HOT LINE (603) 437-7378, for updates about our scheduled activities.

Our chapter is sponsored by Manchester Harley-Davidson/Buell. Local chapter membership provides members with a 10% discount on motorclothes, parts, accessories, apparel, and collectibles purchases, (not service labor), made at our sponsoring dealer, Manchester Harley-Davidson (MHD) at both the Manchester and Nashua locations. You must present your valid membership card to receive the discount.

We meet on the third Wednesday of each month for our general meeting. Officers meet at 6:00 PM; general meeting begins at 7:00 PM at The Yard Restaurant in Manchester, NH. The Yard Restaurant is located 2 miles south of the MALL of NH on Route 28 (South Willow St.), at the intersection of Mammoth Road and South Willow. You can arrive anytime after 6:00 and socialize with the other members prior to the meeting. You may order any item from the bar menu though you don’t have to eat. Coffee and soft drinks are provided compliments of the H.O.G. chapter. In addition, our "Ladies of Harley" meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at various locations, depending on their plans. These are listed in the Newsletter, Website and on the Hotline.

Meetings are structured to allow each officer an opportunity to share information with the group. Officers’ duties are discussed in section 4. Each meeting also has a 50/50 raffle and several door prizes that are raffled off during the night. Tickets are sold for $1.00 each or 8 for $5.00. New members are often very lucky!

We ask members to sign our guest book as they enter the meeting room then sit at the table of their choice. Meetings are often lively as members’ joke with each other and catch up on stories. It truly feels like a family gathering.

Several officers serve the chapter. They are mainly:

Director: Leads the general meetings and performs the administrative duties of the chapter. Ensures all chapter functions are performed.
Assistant Director: Assists the Director to perform chapter duties and help promote H.O.G and the H.O.G. Chapter to new members.
Treasurer: Manages all chapter funds and tracks financial status of chapter at all times.
Secretary: Acts as the administrative heartbeat of the chapter. Keeps chapter records and ensures recording of meeting minutes.
Editor: Records officer reports, member submissions and chapter business into a member newsletter.
Membership Officer:  Keeps membership records and processes membership applications.
Senior Road Captain: Schedules rides and events with chapter Road Captains.
Ladies of Harley: Encourages women members to participate in chapter activities.
Safety Officer: Promotes Motorcycle Safety Foundation Rider courses and promotes safe riding techniques.
Photographer/Historian: Documents our chapter’s activities through photographs and written information and organizes information in chapter albums.
Activities Officer: Researches suggested activities that the membership expresses interest in, finds new and fun activities we can all participate in.
Webmaster: The Webmaster shall be responsible for assembling and organizing material for the Chapter Website and seeking approval from the sponsoring dealer prior to publication.

There may be other officers who serve in various capacities depending on the needs of the chapter. These are VERY brief descriptions of officer activities. All our officers are volunteers. It is hard work for all involved but it is one of the most satisfying activities within the chapter. We encourage all that are interested in contributing their talent to the chapter to get involved. As well as developing camaraderie, you will learn leadership skills that will follow you throughout your life.

We ride almost every weekend during the riding season. The ride schedule typically alternates between Saturday & Sunday. All rides depart from Manchester Harley-Davidson. Ride schedules are included in our newsletter, discussed at our monthly meetings, posted on the website, and recorded on the hot line. Chapter rides typically have a predetermined destination and are always led by a Road Captain. Ride lengths vary according to the destination and the "fun" factor of the riders. Members may leave the group at any time, but you should let the Sweep Road Captain know you’re leaving so they don’t follow you thinking you have a problem or a breaking down.

We ride in staggered group formation. The group rides in a single travel lane. The travel lane is divided into thirds. The Road Captain leads the formation in the front left third of the lane. Following members alternate the side third of the lane they travel on. This formation allows each rider a safe amount of space that they can use to avoid obstacles in their travel path. We offer Orientation Rides for new members or those wishing to learn more about group riding. Orientation Rides start with the Rider’s Edge Group Riding Course. This was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and Rider’s Edge (Harley’s training division). The cost of the course materials are covered by the chapter and the course is usually taught by the Senior Road Captain. The course takes about an hour. Then the group heads out on the road to try out what they have learned. The group is kept small, less than 8 participants and is lead by two Road Captains. There are frequent stops for questions and pointers. The ride takes about an hour and a half. Sign up for an Orientation Ride now!

It should be noted that sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances, the ride information changes. That is the primary reason for our  Hotline. The Hotline is a voice messaging mailbox that gives the most current ride and scheduling information. Members should always call the hotline as late as the morning before a ride to check if there are any changes. The Hotline number is (603) 437-7378. This is the most important tool we have to provide up-to-date information to our members, please make use of it.

All riders who regularly participate in our rides must be members of our chapter, as well as National HOG members. Members are permitted to invite a non-member "guest" to ride with us once during the year. In order to participate in chapter activities more than once a year, "guests" must become a member.

As a H.O.G. Chapter we are required to operate under the Charter for Local Chapters (from H.O.G. National) and our By-Laws. New members are encouraged to read both of these. They can be down loaded from our website and are available at the monthly meeting.

The Manchester NH chapter has a website. You can find us at www.manchesterhog.com

The site contains ride schedules, pictures of chapter activities as well as links to other interesting sites. You will also be receiving our Manchester NH Chapter Newsletter (bi-monthly), which will keep you up to date with our meetings, ride schedules, and special events.

We hope this information answers most of your questions. Realizing we cannot possibly cover all anticipated questions in three pages please do not hesitate to contact any officer if you need further information. We will try our very best to answer your questions.

The Manchester NH Chapter is a family-oriented organization. Whether you’re experienced or inexperienced, male or female, young or old, ride a Sportster or an Ultra, we invite you to become an active member of our Chapter. If you take the time to get involved, you will meet many interesting people who share a common bond: fun, friendships, and Harley Davidson motorcycles. We welcome you to our family as we look forward to a great year together.
